WELCOME!
My name is Mayra and I’m a mom just like you. In my case I have been blessed with three sons with high energy, since before I have my sons I loved children, but when my kids started growing and demand the independence appropriate to their age, my kids change from been a kids how always did what I say to ignore me completely when asked them to do something.
Then, of course, as they ignored me they earned lots of ‘time out’; I did not know at the time that I was diminishing my little’s self-esteem. Since I have three, being a mother was much more complicated and I felt deep in my heart with all that ‘time out’ that something was wrong. I started reading a lot and found lots of stuff that helped me to communicate better with my sons, to understand them better and to show them how much I love them for being themselves.
So I thought that if all this knowledge helped me so much and still do, I should share everything learned, also I must confess that I am not perfect, just the opposite as already told you I has made many mistakes, what I can assure you is that I learn fast from my mistakes.
On this site you will find the stories of the issues I’ve had with my kids and how I’ve been solving them. Having three kids, I must admit that is hard because what works with one sometimes does not work with the other or someone has not been through that yet. So in the stories frequently you will find that I mention one of my children and the other does not.
Weekly you can find a new story of something that has helped me build a better relationship with my children, what I learned and what I did wrong. Seeking to help my kids understand that we all make mistakes and that things do not always go our way, I began to tell them stories of heroes and heroines of flesh and bone, all of the challenges they encountered and how they overcame it and how they continued to struggle without giving up.
From these stories I wrote my first three short Childrens’ Value Books
- Keep Going! Modeling the Success of Michael Jordan
- Never, Never, Never Give Up! Modeling Derek Redmond and Usain Bolt
- Dreams and Wishes! Modeling JK Rowling and Debbie Macomber
Stories which I have read and I still reading to my kids to plant in their minds that in order to achieve anything they desire they must fight for and never give up. That is why I like so much the quote of Michael Jordan, where he reminds the influence that moms have in the lives of their own kids. Being able to guide them so that they can achieve their own stars.
My mother is my root, my foundation. She planted the seed that I base my life on, and that is the belief that the ability to achieve starts in your mind.
